BUILDING WORTH
Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA)
At Ryan, we approach every project as a partnership and with the
new Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) headquarters in Florida
this focus spread deep into the community. The building is on
track for a fall 2022 completion and from the onset of this project,
Ryan was committed to ensuring that Jacksonville’s Small and
Emerging Businesses (JSEB), as well as women-, minority-, and/or
disadvantage-certified businesses (WMDBE) played a meaningful
role and set a goal that 20 percent of available spend be awarded
to JSEB and WMDBE eligible trades.
As a result, nearly 50% of construction cost so far has been spent
with local contractors and suppliers, including more than $1.3
million with small and minority businesses in the initial phases.
The spending with underserved business is expected to continue
increasing as the project progresses.
It is crucial to have women
and minority-owned small
businesses involved in this
project. This is creating
opportunities for companies
to stay in business or to grow
From the start, JEA said they wanted to invest in the community
throughout the entire process. They encouraged us to reach out to
interested groups to make sure that this is a project that the entire
community can be proud of and we are extremely pleased with
our shared commitment and the outcomes.
